I generally paint from life, whether it is an abstract, or a still life. As all of my paintings begin as abstracts, it helps to have an idea first before beginning to paint. All paintings must have 'good bones', or a structure on which to build them, so they work well, are strong, and have a focal point. Painting is the best way I know to communicate a scene, or a subject, to my viewers. My goal is to get the viewer to stop and really see the painting and then rest a while, maybe feeling they can walk around in the painting to see more.
